I cant imagine anything more meaningful then expressing your feelings thru song. My deepest desire is to bring back the art of the "live performance" There is no gathering to small or large that would not be more memorable with the addition of live musicians. Prerecorded music has taken centerstage at weddings, anniverarys, birthday parties and so on. I think many will be suprised how affordable it is to use "genuine music" It will be remembered long after the "chocolate fountain" or the thousand dollars you spent on monogrammed napkins..Ive got you reading this far- stay a bit longer and read a bit about myself.
My name is Frederick Michael Gazzo.  Born in Des Moines, Iowa on Oct. 21  1962 to Joe and Arlene Gazzo..I was raised on the South side of Des Moines in a home dominated by my father’s love of Music…Loud Music!  There was not a day that went by that I didn’t hear my father’s giant Zenith Console stereo playing music of Mario Lanza, Tony Bennet and Frank and the boys.  It was just about 24 hrs a day.  But now I am thankful for such a “distraction” as a child, for it has given me the insight into the world of music, real music. After spending 30 years in a loving home “Italian style” I moved to Las Vegas for 10 years and pursued my love of music. It was there that I had the opportunity to work with various big bands and hotel shows.  The marvelous thing about Vegas is that it presented a continual amount of opportunities to use my craft.  Tiring of returning home from an evening’s gig at 7am, I returned to my great home of Des Moines, Iowa in the summer of 1999.  Happy to be back with friends and family in a simpler more “genuine” way of life.  I do know that music is the very thing that drives me.  I thank God for whatever amount of talent that he has given me and the chance to use it here in the Des Moines area.  I have always had a fondness of the Big bands and the singers that came out of them…Frank Sinatra, Rosemary Clooney, and Doris day. I have since had the oppurtunity to have sung with a 18 piece big band here in the Des Moines area for the past year..It was an awesome experience ,but my desire to work on a more intimate basis musically led me to form my own group, Fred Gazzo and the Metropolitan band. We consist of a fulll rhythm section (bass, piano, drum) and a Sax and trumpet, with myself on vocals. We are available as a trio- all the way to a full orchestra. I look forward to meeting with you and putting together your entertainment needs. Everything from type of music to size of band.  I feel I have some of the best musicians in the country working with me. Working with my own band gives me the oppurtunity to explore more types of music, allowing a more free style of play. Check my show section for upcoming performance dates. I am glad I traded in the Palm trees for the Maple trees……I am home!.
